School Uniform Reminder

As crazy as it sounds with us just being out for summer, many of you will start bargain shopping for uniforms in the next few weeks.   Last year we saw an increase in the number of dress code violations and wanted to be clear in our expectations for the upcoming school year.  With that in mind we wanted to give out some tips to make your shopping easier:

-Classrooms can get colder during the winter months and students will want to wear jackets, sweatshirts, etc. in the building.   These jackets must be solid Red, Navy, or White and free from any logos with the exception of the school logo.

-Remember pants may neither be tight fitting nor excessively baggy.  In addition, they may not be made of any “jean” or “jean look alike” material regardless of color.  Some styles have shifted and we have seen an increase in tighter fitting pants, jeggings, etc.  These are not considered appropriate school attire.

-Undergarments should not be visible at any times.   The exception would be a “plain” white undershirt that does not extend excessively below the bottom of an approved top.  Only leggings that are approved bottom colors may be worn and only underneath skirts that extend a minimum of 2 inches above the knee.

Remember that our uniform is accessible on our website and that staff will be here during the week  all summer long.  If you have a question or concern, please get confirmation before you buy.

Have a great summer,

Reagan Academy

New Board Members

We are pleased to welcome Joe Millward and Sarah Bradshaw as appointed board members on the Reagan Academy Board of Trustees. Both Joe and Sarah bring a strong commitment to Reagan Academy and have a long history of volunteering and demonstrating the value of parental involvement in the success of our school. We look forward to serving with them in the years to come.

Joe Millward’s children have attended Reagan Academy for the past six years; he currently has three children enrolled. Joe graduated from Brigham Young University with a master’s degree in accounting. He now works as a financial controller for a manufacturing company. He believes the opportunities parents have to volunteer and to be involved sets Reagan Academy apart.

Sarah Bradshaw currently has four children attending Reagan Academy. She graduated from BYU with a degree in American Studies. She is a stay-at-home mom who has been actively involved in her children’s education since her oldest started school 9 years ago. She is excited to serve on Reagan’s board and continue the path of excellence established by previous board members.

We are grateful for the parents of our students who are willing to sacrifice their time and energies to contribute in a most meaningful way to the success of our wonderful school.

Joe and Sarah are filling the vacancies left by two dedicated board members, Bryan Thayn and Lorie Wilkins, who have reached the end of their terms of service.

Bryan Thayn has served on the Board of Trustees for the past three years, and we will truly miss the meaningful contributions he has made to the school. Bryan has offered a very valuable, strong, and unique perspective. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors, and thank him for his service.

Lorie Wilkins was one of Reagan Academy’s original board members. For the past nine years, she has worked tirelessly to help transform Reagan Academy into the excellent school it is today. She has served in many positions on the Board of Trustees, including Secretary, Treasurer, and most recently, Board Chair, giving countless hours to ensure that Reagan Academy continues to achieve great things. Lorie’s contributions to the school are too numerous to list, but it is clear that her positive influence has permanently shaped the future of Reagan Academy. As her youngest child graduates from eighth grade this month, we wish Lorie and her family the very best and offer our sincerest gratitude for her many years of service.

Sincerely,

Ronald Wilson Reagan Academy Board of Trustees

Teacher Requests

Dear Parents,

As we near the end of the school year, it is time to consider class placements for next year.   Much time and effort goes into the selection and training of Reagan Academy’s teachers with the goal of giving your children excellent opportunities in each grade.  In addition, our academic program is set up in a way that allows all students the ability to receive instruction on their level from various teachers throughout the day.  Both of these ideas affect what may be traditional thinking and understanding of teacher requests.  With great options everywhere and students moving from classroom to classroom at different times during the day, educational success for students becomes dependent on a strong team effort rather than the skills of a single teacher.

With that said, we believe that a strong partnership between home and school includes the ability of families to request teachers should they deem it necessary.  In order to make the process as effective as possible we have included our teacher request policy as well as the necessary form to be completed.  Because of time and other sensitivities involved in this process, we will be glad to consider all requests that have met the policy as well as the time requirements.   If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please let us know.

Have a great day,

Brian Myrup
